As the old saying goes ‘a bad workman blames his tools’.
As a relatively inexperienced pair of DIYers we always wished there had been a comprehensive list of tools that any good DIY enthusiast should have in their workshop / garage. We have wasted a lot of time and money trying to figure out when spending our cash on a new piece of kit is a worthwhile investment.
This section will be dedicated to a list of the tools we have bought and whether or not they have been worth the outlay (most have, a few haven’t and a handful are completely indispensable). We have no affiliation with any products mentioned on this page and all opinions are entirely our own and subjective (although we are members of the Amazon Affiliate Program and we may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post).
Makita 18V Drill and Impact Driver
Ryobi 10″ Compound Miter Saw
There is no way we could complete a fraction of our projects without a sliding compound miter saw. We originally purchased this back in 2016 for a big Ipe deck project and it has been a mainstay in our workshop ever since.
Any time that we have used it for anything other than 90 degree cuts though we have used an angle tool to ensure that it is in complete alignment.
For the price we would give this a 7 / 10
Rigid Heavy Duty Table Saw
Makita 1-1/4 HP Compact Router Kit
Porter Cable Pancake Compressor
